About

Refined, lightweight, and durable, SlenderElla Tile is a versatile choice for enhancing your space. Whether for walls, floors, countertops, backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, table tops, or windows, SlenderElla Tile seamlessly combines elegance and strength.

Typically, tiles weigh 2-4 lbs per square foot, but SlenderElla stands apart at a mere 1.5 lbs per square foot. This makes it easy to handle, cut, ship, and install. Its ¼” thickness further adds to the appeal, ensuring both style and practicality in every piece.

Established by Ellen Blakeley Studio in 1993, our tempered glass mosaics reflect over three decades of innovation. Proudly originating from San Francisco, California, our commitment to excellence remains steadfast.

Our SlenderElla Tile is available in various sizes, accommodating up to 20” x 20” for tiles and 24” x 36” for panels. Should your project demand larger dimensions, we offer panels up to an impressive 48” x 96”, constructed from our robust ½” thick material.

Tile Installation Guide

Cutting

Trim or adjust the tile size using a wet saw equipped with a high-quality blade. SlenderElla (¼”) tile consists of a laminate layer of ⅛” tempered glass and ⅛” FRP. When cutting, proceed at a slow pace. Minor glass chipping is normal and will be concealed by grout during installation.

Adhesion

Use any adhesive suitable for glass tile for Slim and SlenderElla tiles.

Grout

EBS grouts all tiles before shipping. Only new grout joints require additional grouting.

  1. Use Custom Builders "Prism" grout, widely available locally or online (e.g., Amazon). A small bag is typically sufficient.

  2. Mix the grout with water until it reaches a slightly dry consistency, similar to Skippy peanut butter. Avoid excessive wetness to prevent sinking.

  3. Ensure that new grout matches the level of surrounding dry grout. If grout accidentally gets on the glass, gently polish it off using a clean cloth or paper towel.

  4. Allow the grout to cure for a minimum of 18 hours.

Custom Sealer

Ellen Blakeley offers custom blended metallic sealers for many tile variants. Not all colors necessitate the use of these sealers. If required, the custom sealer will be included with your order.

  1. Thoroughly mix the sealer, ensuring even distribution of metallic particles (which tend to sink).

  2. Apply the sealer to new grout joints, allowing it to sit for 20-30 seconds. Apply to one linear foot at a time.

  3. Wipe off excess sealer using a clean cloth or paper towel.

  4. Repeat the sealing process twice (repeat steps 1-3).

  5. Use a razor blade to remove any residue from the glass.
